Certain couples who are married realize not long afterwards that they made a mistake and rushed into things. Instead of going through a divorce they try to take a shortcut by annulling the marriage. But not just anyone can annul a marriage.

Annulment Requirements

One or both of the couple were not old enough to be married
They are related by blood
One was still legally married during the marriage to the other party
One was not able to consummate the marriage
One did not have the mental capacity to make the decision to marry
Marriage was fraudulent

Not only must you meet these requirements – but you must also file for the annulment no more than four years after the marriage. The next step you will need to take is to contact a divorce lawyer. Make sure that you find someone that has a good history of dealing with these cases and will help you in anyway possible and with compassion for your situation.

Naturally you will have to fill out paperwork that your lawyer gives you. You will have to give information on what you own, how much you make, and how you will be dividing things up between your spouse. An annulment will usually take around 6 months for it to be processed. When you marriage is annulled the state has the view that you were never married making it a clean break for both parties involved.
